The Franklin Memorial Day Parade this year was an eye opener for me. By its very brevity, it may have been one of the more understated events I’ve seen. There were no scouts, no 4H clubs, no bicycles, no ponies…

This spring the Village Board will host an open meeting for community members, short-term rental operators, and prospective operators to discuss short-term rentals in the Franklin community.

To me, the village is best defined as a community of “associations” working with, but independent from local government.

We’re all holding our breaths as we watch the stock market downturn, increasing gas and heating fuel prices, higher interest rates, and a myriad of other challenges attached to inflation. But this is life. We can cry about it, or we can batten down the hatches and deal with it.

All in all the Village of Franklin is in good shape fiscally, functioning within its means, and it is keeping up with the day to day demands typically faced by a micro-municipality.
